I am so honored and excited to introduce you to my mom, Mary Boubari — truly one of the most remarkable women I know.
Before I was even born, my mom was already breaking barriers. She was the first female flight attendant to fly with the late Shah of Iran, eventually becoming Head of Flight Attendants for IranAir and being crowned Miss Airport in 1958. She carried herself with grace, elegance, and professionalism — and she still does.
In 1960, she became my mother, and from that moment on, she has been the heart and glue of our family. We emigrated to the U.S. in 1976, where she continued showing resilience, working for over 12 years managing a doctor’s office with incredible dedication.
Even now, Mary Boubari is the embodiment of class and care — always impeccable in her self-care, always dressed with timeless style and grace. She’s a lifelong lover of books, and while macular degeneration has recently made reading more difficult, it has not dimmed her beautiful spirit or her sharp mind.
She has lovingly cared for so many — her mother, my father, and me — always putting family first with unwavering devotion. I love her dearly, and it’s such a joy and privilege to share her story and her wisdom with you on this special episode.
